There is a wealth of information available about the threat of a flu pandemic and what our Government and Governments around the world are doing to prepare.

It is important to remember that we are being given clear warning signs by the experts pointing towards a pandemic occurrence. The WHO have issued a pre-pandemic alert model (we are already at alert level 3, as shown in the table on the right) and the UK Department of Health and Cabinet Office have issued numerous papers organising and promoting protection in advance.

The scientific evidence suggests that, once an increased human-to-human transmission is detected, a pandemic may take precious little time to become well established.
